Summary

Description
English: Asahi Shimbun, First Issue of the newspaper, Front Page, January 25, 1879. This is the first issue of the Asahi Shimbun, which should be commemorated. The typeface of newspaper titles hasn't changed much. There were two types of newspapers published in the early Meiji era: Oshinbun, a large newspaper that discusses politics and the state, and Koshinbun, a small newspaper that publishes Ichii's events and novels with furigana. A small newspaper is a name given because the size of the paper is smaller than that of a large newspaper (about 1/3 of the current newspaper). The Asahi Shimbun also started as a small newspaper. The Asahi Shimbun gained a large number of readers immediately after its first publication, and by the 16th year of the Meiji era, four years after its first publication, it reached the highest daily circulation (about 20,000) in Japan.
