Description
English: A man is pushing a barrow across tramlines on the Quayside in Newcastle in this tiny picture. The outline of a tram is visible behind. Yellow light shines from the shops, while the silvery light of the moon is reflected from the wet quayside. The lights of the Swing Bridge reflect from the waters of the River Tyne. On the lower level of the High Level Bridge, small lights shine through the misty air from the oil lamps of hansom cabs. Arthur Grimshaw was one of a family of Leeds artists, who specialised in night time scenes painted in various cities.
