English: The Arrol-Johnston dog-cart was created by the Mo-Car Syndicate in Scotland using an opposed twin engine about 1900, the new car for the 1906 season was displayed at Olympia in November 1905 and the car and engine received a detailed description in The Automotor Journal spanning 3 editions - this image is taken from November 25th 1905 edition, p1468. The engine was the same design as used in the dog-cart, and reviewed by the Automotor Journal in September 1901.
The engine had an output of 12hp at 800rpm, and a maximum of 15hp at 1100rpm. It had atmospherically operated inlet valves, with the inlet valve located over the exhaust valve in a small chamber connected to the centre of each cylinder.
