Summary

Description An illustration of Ardencaple Castle, depicting the castle sometime before 1869 (the year in which this book was published). According to this book, the castle was owned by Sir James Colquhoun, Bt. This illustration is from the book The Chiefs of Colquhoun and their Country, by William Fraser, published in 1869. The illustration is titled "Ardencaple Castle, Dumbartonshire, the property of Sir James Colquhoun, Baronet" and is shown between pages 110-111. The illustration is unattributed within the book. The lifespan of the author of the book was 1816-1898; and it is assumed the creator of the painting would have had lived in roughly the same era.
