English: Archibald 'Bell-the-Cat' depicted on a frieze showing notable figures in Scottish history. Arms of Archibald Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus (d.1593) up until 1491; Quarterly of 4 surtout: Argent, a man’s heart gules imperially crowned proper and on a chief azure three mullets argent (Douglas),
  • 1st: Gules, a lion rampant argent (Earldom of Angus);
  • 2nd: Or, a lion rampant gules debruised by a riband sable (Lordship of Abernethy);
  • 3rd: Ermine, three chevrons gules (Lordship of Liddesdale);
  • 4th: Or, a fess chequy azure and argent surmounted by a bend gules charged with three buckles or (Stewart of Bonkyll).
