Summary
| Description |
Digging up the settlement of Rotta which was washed away by the waves in the 12th Century. After the land was protected by a system of dikes and a dam across the river Rotte the modern town of Rotterdam was formed on the same spot. The yellow stakes show the outline of the walls of a farm built on top of a small artificial mound from the later stages of Rotta. In front of that on a lower level an archaeologist is working on a wall from a farm from an earlier stage. |
