Originally the clubhouse for the 'Anlaby Park Estate Garden Suburb', a housing scheme for the rising middle classes which was built from around 1912 onwards by property developers The City Land Syndicate Ltd of Hull. The plans for this 'garden suburb' were drawn up by Runton & Barry, architects of the perhaps better-known Garden Village in East Hull. 291429
