Summary

Description
English: Ankali Matha was an ancient monastery at the Chandravalli archaeological site near Chitradurga, Karnataka. This sub-terranean monastery was first used by Buddhist monks for its ideal location amongst greenery and serene atmosphere. Later it was a monastery of the Agamic Tantra Shaiva monastery and then Veerashaiva monastery. The picture shows a holy ash (vibhuti) container. Observe the delicate work and the paintings on the wall.
