DescriptionAnderson-Jerome Avenues Station Black and White.jpg
English: A digital photograph of the abandoned Andreson-Jerome Avenues Station in the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, near East 162nd Street and Jerome Avenue, facing southeast towards Yankee Stadium. The station is on the roof of a short building which is now closed, and the platform is covered in dirt, leaves, and garbage with trees and other vegetation growing to where the tracks used to be, as well as graffiti on its walls. It was open in 1918 as part of the Interborough Rapid Transit Company's9th Avenue elevated line, the first elevated line in New York City, and later as part of the Polo Grounds Shuttle until it was closed in 1958, where it was left to rot for 60 years. This photograph was originally taken in color with an iPhone 6S by myself on February 17th, 2018 shortly before noon and was grayscaled using GIMP 2.10.4 on Windows 7 to add a melancholic tone. Sad but beautiful.
