Description
English: This image is a close view of Ancha Formation beds near Galisteo Preserve south of Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. This is one of the reference sections for the formation, which consists of coarse debris eroded off the southwest Sange de Cristo Mountains between about 1 and 3 million years ago. It is significant both as an aquifer and because it demonstrates that local tectonics were still creating accommodation space for deposition of sediments that recently in this area.
