DescriptionAn unidentified man (2) by Hans Holbein the Younger.jpg
English: Portrait of an Unknown Gentleman, inscribed "N Poines Knight". Black and coloured chalks on pink-primed paper, 30.1 × 21 cm, Royal Collection, Windsor Castle.
The drawing has survived with a collection of drawings at Windsor mainly by Hans Holbein the Younger. In his 1945 study of the Windsor drawings, however, K. T. Parker rejected this drawing as a Holbein on grounds of style, detecting French characteristics in the draughtsmanship. He also rejected the inscription, added later, which in his view mistakenly associates the sitter with Sir Nicholas Poyntz.
