Dharavi, das grösste Slum von Mumbai beherbergt ca eine halbe Million Menschen auf 2 km². Hinter den Fassaden der einfachen Behausungen wird vorallem gearbeitet. Das Gewerbe in Dharavi ist nach Berufsgilden unterteilt. So findet man zum Beispiel in einem Gebiet vorallem Nähereien oder Gerbereien oder Töpfereien und so weiter. Die Arbeitsstätten sind sehr unterschiedlich ausgestattet. Manchmal mit sehr alten Nähmaschinen oder dann mit modernen Anlagen wie auf diesem Bild. Eine Anlage wie auf dem Bild kostet um die 30'000 Dollar. Einerseits überrascht es, in einem Slum solche Anlagen vorzufinden, andererseits stellt man die Anlagen natürlich wegen den billigen Arbeitskräften dort hin. |
