Description New Guinea. 7 January 1944. Landing unopposed, American forces walking down the gangplanks of the landing craft, infantry (LCI) take the beach at Saidor, a Japanese supply base in northern New Guinea. The landing has been consolidated, and airstrips are being laid out.
