A glass of Rugporter from <a href="http://www.amagerbryghus.dk/" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Amager Bryghus</a> in Kastrup, Denmark, at Olympen in Oslo. Rugporter is an 8.5% abv porter brewed with 16% rye malt. It poured a deep brown, almost black color, with a large beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee roasted malts and some resinous hops. Full bodied mouthfeel with a soft carbonation. Flavor was massive, with dark chocolate, licorice and syrupy sweet malts balanced by a good roasted character and a nice dose of bittering hops. Nice, long bitter aftertaste with sweet notes lingering. A very tasty and rich porter! |
