English: Alpha Terrace, Launceston (likely late-1880s)
Terrace row on Saint John Street, Launceston. A Victorian Filigree style terrace of four houses showing the influence of Melbourne-style architecture, with prominent parapets and lots of stucco. Remarkable for the way the terrace steps up the hillside, similar to terrace rows in Sydney. Listed as 'Victorian Filigree' on page 61 of 'A Pictorial Guide to Australian Architecture' by Apperly, Irving, & Reynolds (1989).
