Summary

Allosaurus fragilis

Photographer
Description
English: Allosaurus fragilis skeleton cast in the galerie de Paléontologie (Paleontology Hall) in the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle (French National Museum of Natural History, in Paris, France). American paleontologist Jim Madsen of the University of Utah sent this plaster-cast specimen to the French Muséum in 1976 as planned after the "University of Utah Cooperative Dinosaur Project" agreements had been reached between both institutions (the project spanned from 1960 to 1976). The original fossilised bones used to produce the copy belonged to at least 44-46 individuals found disarticulated in the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, Utah, among some other dinosaur species, also disarticulated. This huge bone bed, the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, is dated back to the Late Jurassic, about 150 million years ago.
