ALLENE RAY was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1903, and received her education there. She is the daughter of a prominent Texas ranchman and spent her youth on her father's ranch where she learned to ride with such skill that George B. Seitz, famous serial director, offered her an opportunity to display her skill and daring on the screen. Prior to her debut on the silver sheet, Miss Ray was on the speaking stage for a year. She was one of the winners of a beauty contest staged by a leading motion picture magazine, and though thought of first as a beauty, she quickly demonstrated that her greatest asset was her histrionic talent. She is naturally an outdoors girl, and the years spent on the ranch are reflected in her virile screen characterizations. Miss Ray is 5 feet 3 1/2 inches in height, weighs 117 lbs., and has golden hair and deep blue eyes.
