English: Picture of the Allegheny Arsenal Powder Magazine, part of the former Allegheny Arsenal in Arsenal Park, in the Central Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 23, 2010. This powder magazine was built in 1814, and designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe. It may be the only original portion of the former arsenal that still remains standing and intact.

Visible on the powder magazine in this picture is the Arsenal Tablet, which shows two crossed cannons with ten cannonballs. There are seventeen stars around them representing the original states plus the four that had been added by 1814. The tablet says, "US - April 1814", and underneath the two crossed cannons it says, "A. R. W.", which stands for Abram R. Woolley, the first commander of the Allegheny Arsenal.

On another part of the powder magazine, there's a sign that says, "Allegheny Arsenal - Lawrenceville - Designed by Benjamin H. Latrobe; built by Captain Abram R. Woolley on land purchased by the federal government from William B. Foster. Served as ammunition production center during Indian, Mexican and Civil Wars. This tablet commemorates at least 79 civilian workers - men, women and many children - killed in three mysterious explosions, September 17, 1862." In smaller letters underneath that, it says, "Erected by the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania for the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Arsenal Post No. 897, through a gift from The Pittsburgh Foundation. July 4, 1965".

Also, there's a sign near the middle portion of the powder magazine that says, "Erected by the Dolly Madison Chapter U.S. Daughters of 1812 to the soldiers and sailors of the War of 1812. 1909".

A historical marker nearby (on the sidewalk along 40th Street) says, "Allegheny Arsenal - Designed by Benjamin H. Latrobe and constructed in 1814. The Arsenal was used as a military garrison in the manufacture and storing of supplies during the Civil War, Indian Wars, and Spanish-American War. Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission."

The Allegheny Arsenal is on the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations, and the powder magazine is listed individually on the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks.
