Description
English: SF Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguía is the MC for a celebration featuring Aztec dancing and photographs of Mexican life in 1900. The most important cultural icon of Mexico, the Virgin of Guadalupe, is celebrated every year Dec. 9 -- 12. This festival commemorates when the humble Indian Juan Diego saw an apparition of the Virgin Mary. Alejandro Murguía tells the story of the Virgin of Guadalupe and her relation to the goddess Tonatzin. Music and dance performances by the Danza Azteca Teokalli dancers. Alejandro Murgía will also be available to sign copies of his recent book A Little Piece of Mexico.
