| Description |
English: The Aldabra giant tortoise (Aldabrachelys gigantea) is a giant tortoise species endemic to the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles Archipelago. It was historically introduced in the Inner Seychelles, Reunion, and Mauritius. A few captive individuals can be seen in gardens of large hotels and villas on Praslin and Mahe. There are ca. 20 captive animals in the National Botanic Garden (Victoria). Mahe and Praslin, April 2019 - January 2020.
Русский: Сейшельские гигантские черепахи (Aldabrachelys gigantea) – это эндемичный вид сухопутных черепах, естественный ареал которого на сегодняшний день ограничен небольшим по площади атоллом Альдабра, входящим в группу Сейшельских островов. На других островах, в том числе Сейшельских, Реюньоне, Маврикии, в настоящее время находятся интродуцированные колонии этой черепахи. По несколько особей содержатся в садах крупных отелей и вилл на Маэ и Праслине. В Национальном ботаническом саду Виктории обитает около 20 представителей этого вида.
