Summary

Description
English: Alcester Town Hall This 17th century market hall stands just to the north of Alcester's church. Originally, the ground floor was open to the elements and trading would have taken place there. The basement was also used as a prison - and was still in use as the town's lock-up as late as 1850. The freehold of the building was purchased by the town in 1918 and it was renamed the Alcester War Memorial Town Hall. The hall was extensively restored in the 1950s.
