This is believed to be the earliest surviving photograph of Alberto Vargas after arriving in the US. The original photo is in the Alberto Vargas papers in the Smithsonian Archives of American Art. It was taken before he began work for Florence Ziegfeld and the Ziegfeld Follies which dates it with certainty as prior to 1923.
