Herter, an American painter, gave this mural to the French people. His elder son, Everit, died in World War I, and is buried at Aisne-Marne American Cemetery. Herter includes a portrait of the son (center, with arms upraised), a portrait of his wife Adele (far left, in white), and a self-portrait (far right, hold the bouquet of flowers). Français : Leaving for the Front–August 1914 (1926). Herter, un peintre américain, a offert cette murale au peuple français. Son fils aîné, Everit, est mort pendant la Première Guerre mondiale et son corps est enterré au cimetière américain d'Aisne-Marne. Dans la murale, le peintre a inséré le portrait de son fils (au centre, bras levés ), le portrait de sa femme Adele (à gauche toute, en blanc) et un auto-portrait (à droite toute, il tient un bouquet de fleurs). |
