Akrotiri_and_Dhekelia_flag.jpg (272 × 384 pixels, file size: 11 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description
English: Unofficial flag of the British Overseas Territory of Akrotiri and Dhekelia.
  • The two lions passant guardant on a green background were originally used as the emblem of the British Army’s Cyprus District, which was itself derived from the unofficial emblem of Cyprus during its time as a British colony. Ultimately, the use of two lions passant guardant to represent Cyprus comes from the royal arms of England at the time of King Richard I of England, who conquered Cyprus in 1191.
  • The two lions on a green background are also used by Dhekelia Yacht Club and King Richard School in Dhekelia
