Bey den fast unübersteiglichen Hindernisen, welche das Clima,
die Roheit der Völcker, die grosſen Wüsten, der Mangel grosſer
schiffbarer Flüsſe u. d. m. in den Weg legen, ist es kein Wun-
der, dass wir von Africa ausser den Küsten und den nechst
daran liegenden Ländern, von dem Inneren wenig oder
nichts wissen. Alle Kentnisse von den inneren
Ländern beruhen bisher auf auf Hörensagen. Man
Muss daher ruhig abwarten, ob die Bemühungen der
Britten zur Entdeckung des Inneren, künftig vom meh-
rern Erfolg seyn werden als bis daher.
