English: A schematic illustration of the aerocapture vehicle entry corridor. Entering too steep will result in the vehicle failing to exit the atmosphere. Entering too shallow will result in the vehicle exiting the atmosphere without depleting enough energy. Entering within the corridor allows the vehicle guidance scheme to achieve the desired exit conditions for a capture orbit around the planet. |
