Description
English: Four female figures, two seated and two standing, are shown. There is a close variant of the composition in the Musée du Petit Palais, Paris. During his stay in Paris in the 1860s Monticelli began to paint 'fêtes galantes', depicting elegantly-dressed women and men, often in parks, in the manner of French 18th-century paintings. This group is typical of such a scene.
