Description
English: This image shows a road cut in the Abajo Formation west of Abo Pass, New Mexico, US. The Abajo Formation is a sequence of metamorphosed sedimentary and volcanic rock dated to about 1660 million years in age. It is interpreted as sediments deposited in an environment of heavy volcanic activity, likely associated with the assembly of the crust of the American Southwest.
