English: A plaque on the wall of Royal Palace of Bucharest. The text says: "On this site stood the palace of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, whose double election as a ruler, in 5th and 24th of January 1859, led to the unification of Romanian Principalities". According to the language rules introduced during the Communist era, the word "Romîne" ("Romanian") is is written with "î" (it is normally written as "Române").
Română: Placă memorială în curtea Palatului Regal din București, fațada sudică. Textul spune: „În acest loc a existat vechiul palat de reședință al domnitorului Alexandru Ioan Cuza, prin a cărui dublă alegere din 5 și 24 ianuarie 1859 s-a înfăptuit Unirea Țărilor Române”. Conform ortografiei din perioada comunistă, cuvântul „Romîne” este scris cu „î”.
