Children of about 10 years old smiled brightly at me taking pictures while waddling around with firewood bigger than their size on their heads. Including this photo, a black and white exhibition (May 3-23, 2005) was held in Insa-dong with only about 30 'island' photos. An unrecognized 40-year-old woman who saw this picture took out her handkerchief to wipe away her tears while browsing her photos. An aunt whose hometown is Hatae-do said that she grew up living a life like this on the coast when she was a child. As soon as she saw the picture of the island, she remembered her mother who died after suffering all her life due to a difficult family situation, and she cried. Hearing this, I felt that photos have the effect of shaking people's hearts faster than words. At the same time, I thought that more than grandiose scenes, photos taken of ordinary lives, which are nothing, give a calm impression.
