English: This multi purpose gun was part of the rock defences during the ww2 era and would have had a general role..i presume it was also placed near the entrance to rosia road tunnel to protect the road area in case of enemy advancing by road..This gun was mostly used for coastal defence but could be used for other purposes..It fired a 6 pounder shell.,it wasusually manned by 2 or 3 people..there are also several searchlights emplacements in the vicinity and a bunker used by the crew of the battery.
This appears to be a 6-pounder anti-tank gun. Español: Este cañón multi uso era parte de la defensa de la roca durante la epoca de la 2a guerra mundial y tenia un rol de uso general. Pienso que su emplacamiento cercano ala entrada del tunel en la carretera de Rosia,era para protejer la zona de esta carretera en caso de una invasion avanzando por carretera. Esta arma se usaba ams bien para defensa costal pero tambien se podia usar para otras tareas. Disparaba un projectil de unas 6 libras(ap. 3kgs)asin de su nombre(6 pounder gun)y se tripulaba por 2 o 3 personas. En la zona hay varios emplacamientos de focos anti aereos y un bunker que usado por los que conformaban la bateria. |
