English: A Garo woman
In the Garo hills the woman wear fifty or more brass rings in each ear, a ring being sometimes as much as four inches in diameter. When a man dies his widow puts of her war-rings till the funeral ceremony is over and sometimes never puts them on again.
Deutsch: Ein Garoweib mit einer Menge Ringe (bis zu fünfzig und mehr) in jedem Ohr, von denen jeder öfters vier Zoll Durchmesser hat. Beim Tode ihres Gatten legt die Witwe diesen Ring-schmuck bis zur Beendigung der Trauerfeier ab; manchmal legt sie ihn auch nie wieder an.
Dansk: En Garo-kone med en masse ringe (op til halvtreds eller mere) i hvert øre, som hver ofte er 10 cm i diameter. Efter sin mands død, så tager enken ringene af indtil afslutningen af bisættelsen, undertiden de aldrig senere går med dem igen.
