The photograph was taken in August 1948 at the Berlin Peace Concert, Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin (at that time in the Soviet sector). The photograph was taken from behind the Alexandrov Ensemble choir, looking across the audience of 30,000 in the Gendarmenmarkt to one of the ruined cathedrals. Boris Alexandrov is conducting. Probably taken with Boris Alexandrov's camera because he still had the photo at the end of his life. |
