Summary

Description
English: The mountain in the center of the frame is informally known as Lalande η, in Mare Nubium on the moon. This image is combined from three Hasselblad frames acquired as part of the Apollo 12 Multispectral Photography Experiment. Magazine 56B was acquired with a blue filter (430 nm). Magazine 56C was acquired with a red filter (660 nm). Magazine 56D was acquired with a green filter (540 nm). The three frames were composed in GIMP to create a single RGB image. The strong blue and yellow in the corners is the result of obscuration by the edge of the hatch window. Other analysis of these frames by NASA states that there is clear evidence of local, small scale color variation from these frames (Apollo 12 Preliminary Science Report, NASA SP-235, 1970).
