English: A soldier of the Afghan National Army (foreground) fights alongside Charlie Company, 1 Rifles during Operation Tor Tapus in the Nawa area of Helmand, Afghanistan.

The soldiers of 1 Rifles played a vital role as members of the Operational Mentor Liaison Team (OMLT). The OMLT program is a NATO-ISAF initiative aimed at improving the capacity of the Afghan National Army (ANA) through deploying small OMLT teams to work with ANA forces.
