Summary

Description

French cold-war era Main Battle Tank Main armament: - 105mm Modèle F1 tank gun Some 3,571 of this French Main battle tank were produced between 1966 and 1994. Although they were retired from French Army service in 2011, they were also widely exported and remain in service in several countries including Cyprus, Nigeria, Qatar and Venezuela. The ‘B2’ was an upgraded variant with an improved fire control system incorporating a laser rangefinder and a night vision system, as well as a new transmission and other smaller improvements. 44 were deployed during the 1991 Gulf War. This example was built in 1972 and was painted in a desert colour scheme by the museum workshop for a ‘Gulf War’ exhibition. It was seen outside near the museum workshop area.
