Summary

Description
English: Batesvar temples site, also called Bateshwara temples, are a collection of 200 sandstone temples and their ruins about 35 kilometer north of Gwalior. The temples were destroyed after the 13th century. Some of them have been restored in the 20th and 21st centuries from their chaotic ruins. The temples are predominantly square plan based, and those that were standing in the 19th century exhibit the North Indian Nagara style architecture. Most of them are small and simple temples, exemplifying the essential elements of Hindu temple architecture and innovation possible within the basic plan.
