Summary

Description The first steam locomotive to operate in Eugene in many years is the UP 3985, on its grand publicity tour of the western states. The 3985 was built in 1943, retired to a park about 1960, and rebuilt by volunteers in the 1980s and returned to service. It is one of the two large steam locomotives operated by the Union Pacific in excursion service.
