Hitachi Europe built Class 800 "Intercity Express Train" are part of Great Western Railway's fleet for mainline since 2017. Bimodal, the London to Swansea route sees traction being changed over. With the pantagraph raised, set 800310 is seen at Cardiff Central on 31 May 2021 on 1L16, 10:22 Swansea to London Paddington. A few weeks prior to this saw the entire fleet of 800s and other Hitachi built units from the same "family" withdrawn from service for safety checks after cracks were found on the welds of the jacking points. |
