Description Statue of Hugh Fortescue, 2nd Earl Fortescue (1783-1861), by Edward Bowring Stephens, 1863, Erected in centre of Castle Yard, Exeter in 1863, subsequently moved to grass verge on left side of main building viewed from entrance gate. Inscribed on plinth in capitals: "Hugh Earl Fortescue KG Lord Lieutenant of Devon"
