Karnobat is a major junction station where the lines to the Black Sea ports of Burgas and Varna split. As a result some trains from Sofia via Plovdiv split and join here at Karnobat.
On very warm September evening, 46234 is in between turns and its next turn of duty will be a Burgas portion working off train 8613, 10:45 Sofia to Varna.
Class 46s were built by Electroputere in Romania being similar to CFR class 40. They were later modernised by Koncar in Croatia.
