English: The New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs held a Womenâs Veterans Day ceremony at the New Jersey World War II Memorial in Trenton, New Jersey, June 12, 2023, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act. On June 12, 1948, President Harry S. Truman signed the act empowering women to legally serve as regular, permanent members of the armed services. During the ceremony, Brig. Gen. Lisa J. Hou, D.O., The Adjutant General of New Jersey; and New Jersey Assemblywomen Carol A. Murphy, Cleopatra G. Tucker, and DiAnne C. Gove spoke about the impact women have made on the military.
