A ship can change name and flag state through time, but the IMO number remains the same through the hull's entire lifetime. As a result, it can be useful to identify a ship by using the IMO number.
English: Eimskip Seatours passenger tour boat, SAERUN (SÆRÚN; Særún), leaving the dock at Stykkisholmúr, on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Westfjords, Iceland. The SAERUN is used for passenger tours of birdlife, shellfish and various unique rock formations around the Suðureyjar islands in Breiðarfjörður.
It is a 194 tonne passenger catamaran, built in 1978 of aluminium with twin engines giving a power of 484 kW and a top speed of 18 knots. It has a length of 26 m, a beam of 8 m and operates at 0 - 14 knots.
