| Description |
English: View of the entrance area of the Treasury of the Basilica of Saint Servatius in Maastricht, Netherlands. This photo was taken during the Heiligdomsvaart pilgrimage, a seven-yearly religious and cultural festival that dates back to the Middle Ages. It meant that many objects had been removed from the Treasury to be shown in the church on Saturday 2 June, or to be included in the procession on Sunday 3 June. The empty showcase in the centre for instance usually contains the silver-gilded reliquary bust of Saint Servatius. |
