Summary

Description

Phallus aurantiacus Mont.

Image location: Aporo, Michoacan, Mexico

A stinkhorn with a bright orange stem having the texture of styrofoam. Growing in conifer duff.

Smells really bad, somewhat spermatic.

We fried up some of the eggs and ate them, they taste good and do not have any bad odor or flavor.

Spores cylindrical, 3.5 – 3.9 × 1.4 – 1.6 micrometers.
