English: A 22-unit condominium located at 2001 19th Street, N.W. – also known as 1866 California Street, N.W. – in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
Built in 1908 (land–$17,000; construction–$63,000) to the designs of architect Waddy B. Wood, the 42-room, Tudor Revival-style building originally served as the Office of the Qing Legation, and later as the Embassy of the Republic of China. The building is designated as a contributing property to the Washington Heights Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. |
