Summary

Description

The T19 class 2-4-0 was James Holden's second design for the GER, and formed the basis for all of the larger locomotives introduced for the next fourteen years. In 1889, No. 759 was fitted with oil burning gear and, two years later, No. 760 was similarly-equipped and named Petrolea. Nos. 712 and 761 followed in 1893. Many of the the 2-4-0 T19 were subsequently converted to 4-4-0 T19Rs by 1908 (60), with all the remaining 2-4-0s scrapped by 1920.

This photo was taken from an old original photo we came across while helping to clear the house of a deceased friend. I have uploaded it to Flickr in the hope that it might be interesting to steam enthusiasts.
