English: Approximate difference between the land boundary separating the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the territory of the United Arab Emirates previously and after the treaty of Jeddah signed in Jeddah between Faisal of Saudi Arabia and Sheikh Zayed in 1974.
As per approximate difference between previous borders, red indicates the previous territory of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi that is now part of Saudi Arabia. Note the Island of Huwaysat is also highlighted in red. The file is recreated from a map found in page 178 of Noura Saber Al Mazrouei thesis titled UAE-Saudi Arabia Border Dispute:The Case of the 1974 Treaty of Jeddah submitted and published online by the University of Exeter's Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies in 2013 which was sourced from Foreign Office Minute by J. P. Bannerman, “Saudi-Abu Dhabi Frontier Settlement,” 16 August 1974, enclosing map illustration the cession, FCO8/ 2357, TNA, London, in Arabian Boundaries, ed. Schofield, vol. 15, p.234. The file created is not created with the notion of 100% accurate geographical coordinates set in the treaty of Jeddah. |
