Summary

Description

Sunlit Gold. The Shelby Mustang was a high performance version of the Ford Mustang, they were built by Shelby America from 1965-1970. For 1968, the Mustang got a mild facelift, it got front and rear side markers and the steering wheel was changed to energy absorbing. At Shelby, not only the fastback, but a convertible was also available. Similar to the 67 cars, they got fiberglass nose panels, fiberglass hood with now with more forward scoops, similar bodyside intakes, and spoilered tail with sequential turn signals. Driving lights were now rectangular. Inside a padded roll bar with attached inertia-reel shoulder harness, improved gauges, and woodgrain appliques marked the otherwise stock-Mustang interior. In 1968, both the GT350 with the now 302 V8, and the GT500 with 428 Police Interceptor engine were available. Ford had a hotter version of its 428 for 1968, the Cobra Jet, it was installed in the new for 1968, GT500KR (King of the Road) 1657 GT350s made (250 bhp 302 V8) 1542 GT500s made (310 bhp 428 V8)
