Summary

Description
English: Ukrainian artists (who were to eventually be members of the Ukrainian Artists Society of Australia pose in front of a temporary statue of the great Ukrainian poet and freedom-fighter Taras Shevchenko, at Lidcombe Oval in Sydney, Australia in January 1964. This statue and temporary monument was part of the Ukrainian-Australian community's celebration of 150 years from the birth date of Shevchenko. Sitting from left to right are artists Theodor Nalukowy, Serhij Cymbaluk, Volodymyr Sawchak, Mykola Swiderskyj, Stephan Chwyla, Peter Kravchenko and Theodosij Robitnytskyj. The design and execution of the statue of Shevchenko was by Peter Kravchenko, with assistance from Stephan Chwyla.
Українська: 1964 рік в Австралії проходить під знаком Шевченківських святкувань (150-ліття дня народження). Сіднейські малярі Петро Кравченко і Степан Хвиля оформлюють скульптуру Тараса Шевченка у натуральну величину, і разом з групою мистців монтують тимчасовий пам'ятник в центрі спортивному майданчику в Лідкомбу (Lidcombe Oval), околиці Сіднею.
